Placing the Banjo Bolster in Your Banjo

Are you having trouble getting your new Banjo Bolster to fit properly in your banjo? Does it look similar to the photo below?

Banjo Bolster Looks Too Big

Your new Banjo Bolster will be a bit stiff at first and may need a little coaxing to get it to sit properly against the rim.

Please try the following:

  • Make sure the ends are contacting the dowel stick or coordinator rod(s) perpendicularly, i.e. not on an angle.  The end of the Banjo Bolster should be flush up agains the dowel stick or coordinator rod(s).
  • Evenly distribute the folds of the Banjo Bolster across its length.

Once the Banjo Bolster is sitting correctly against the rim it will begin to acclimate to the rim's shape. After about two weeks it should be fully acclimated.

Here is a photo of the same Banjo Bolster placed correctly inside the rim.
